Do I have testosterone deficiency?
What’s inside...
Testosterone is the male equivalent of estrogen -- a hormone that controls many aspects of male sexuality as well as secondary characteristics, such as facial hair, muscle development, and voice masculinity. No one knows exactly what role declining levels of testosterone (and other hormones) play in the aging process.
The number of men over 60 who are testosterone deficient is uncertain but some estimates suggest that 1 in 10 older men may have lower than expected testosterone levels. The aging process, medical illnesses (like hypertension and diabetes) and obesity all affect testosterone levels. Keep in mind that declining testosterone is a normal part of aging!

NOTE: one must be careful of the many initiatives that are trying to push testosterone supplementation on older men on false premises. Healthism does not endorse any of these and instead encourages you to discuss these sensitive issues with your physician.
